Layers of Learning Unit 1-3 contains hands-on activities including crafts, games, experiments, writing projects, and more.  Study ancient Europe including the village of Skara Brae, the builders of Stonehenge, and the Indo-European migration theory.  Learn about the grids we use to divide and navigate our world like lines of latitude and longitude and hemispheres. Explore the earth’s structure, concepts like precession, and what it would take to live on the moon.  In the arts, delve into how crafts reach the realm of art in design and decoration as your kids do projects like pottery sculpting and weaving.

In each unit, you’ll find a recommended library list, important background information about each topic, and lots of activities to choose from for kids of all ages.  Sidebars include a bunch more ideas including Additional Layers, Fabulous Facts, On The Web, Writer’s Workshop, Famous Folks, and Teaching Tips.  Printable maps and worksheets are included with each unit and may be printed as often as needed for your family or class.
