Stuff We Love

Hot fudge sundaes, patchwork quilts, finding money on the street . . . we can think of A LOT of stuff to love.

THL MomsTravel with us through some more homeschool related stuff we love.  Here are our reviews of homeschool materials, sites, and books too.  Some of these product reviews were done as professional compensated reviews and others are just things we’ve stumbled across.  Either way, all our reviews are our honest opinions.

We’re readers and we’re raising readers.  There are so many great books out there we want to share with you and we hope you’ll leave a comment telling us of the great reads you’ve found too.

Many of our reviews also include projects to go along with the book.  Karen invented the ”book project” to take the place of the book report, going from boring to beguiling.

We also think there’s too much really great literature to spend your time in smut.  We won’t recommend books that contain profanity, sexuality, over the top violence or otherwise offend basic decency and morals.  We’ll also let you know if there’s anything that could possibly offend or be a problem so you’ll know if this book is for you.

Navigating the waters of homeschool curriculums can be downright dangerous to the wallet.  We give detailed reviews of products and curriculums out there so you can make a better decision about what will fit your family’s needs.  {Want your product reviewed?  Please e-mail us at contact@layers-of-learning.com with your proposal.}

We also love to feature others.  Sometimes we feature projects, people, or sites we happen upon and love, and sometimes people find us!  Either way, there’s nothing better than swapping great ideas and finding new web-buddies.  Check out our contact us page if you would like to be featured.  Click on the button to see our latest features.

And here are some of our favorite sites:

National Geographic- There is a plethora of information on this site, but our very favorite area to explore is the Creature Feature section. It’s addictive to see and learn about all the cute animals!

DLTK - Free printable crafts for kids.  They have an awesome holiday section with lots of ideas for free fun with kids

Unplug Your Kids - crafts and stuff to do with your kids, the truly wireless way.

Color Color Color - Artsy craftsy stuff from an artsy craftsy mom.

Free Printables - coloring pages, calendars, worksheets, cards, etc, etc, etc . . .

Just Playin’ Around - visit with a mom playing and teaching her pre-schoolers.  We’ve been “following” Julie for a long time and feel like we know her!

Spelling City - free online games and printables to help with spelling practice.  Our kids BEG to play this {I only hold out to let them hold on to the illusion that they’re having play time!}

Art Projects For Kids - From an actual artist, meaningful projects to inspire art ability and understanding.  When I read her stuff I always wish I had come up with it first!
