Layers of Learning Unit 1-14 is here!
- History: Ancient Africa
- Geography: Africa
- Science: Bonding and Crystals
- Arts: African Folk Tales
All about Africa, you’re going to love coloring the maps, learning about the Christian King of Axum, make a Senufo cloth painting, go on Safari in your back yard, make an Anasi spider craft, and read stories from several African cultures. Plus you’ll learn all about atomic bonding by drawing Lewis Dot diagrams and you’ll make crystals out of borax, salt and/or sugar plus more.
If you’re chemistry shy you’re going to love the Layers of Learning chemistry EXPLANATIONS, EXPERIMENTS, and EXPLORATIONS written by Michelle, who gets chemistry thoroughly enough to explain it simply. Simplified for your six-year-old, but in depth enough for your high schooler. Seriously, fear no more.
In each unit you’ll find a recommended library list, important background information about each topic, lots of activities to choose from for kids of all ages, and sidebars with a bunch more ideas including Additional Layers, Fabulous Facts, On The Web, Writer’s Workshop, Famous Folks, and Teaching Tips. Printable maps and worksheets are included at the end of each unit and may be printed as often as needed for your family or class.
This unit can be used as a unit study, an idea book to supplement any curriculum, or as part of the Layers of Learning Program covering history, science, geography and art in a four year rotation.
