Birds are fun and easy to observe in nature. This bird call craft can make it even more fun and easy. If you can sit patiently for ten or more minutes while using your bird call you can attract birds to your area.
How To Make A Bird Call
You just need a 2 x 1 x 1 inch piece of hardwood and a round screw eye.
- Drill a hole in the end of the hardwood slightly smaller than the screw.
- Work the screw in and out of the hole several times to loosen it up.
- If you move it quickly back and forth it will squeak.
- Paint a design on your bird call.
Go someplace where birds are likely to be found, your backyard or a park for example. Twist the eye screw so that it makes a squeaking sound. It may take some limbering up to get it to turn easily and squeak. Sit quietly and patiently for ten or fifteen minutes, squeaking your bird call every few minutes. See if birds come. If they do write down which ones. Use a bird identification book like Birds (A Golden Guide from St. Martin’s Press). If you don’t see any birds try a new location or a new time of day.
